EPURON inaugurates 12-megawatt wind farm Bonneuil in France
- Bonneuil-les-Eaux is EPURON's third wind farm on the grid in France
- By the end of 2010, wind farms with a total capacity of 42 MW are to be constructed
Hamburg, 16 June 2009: On Saturday last week, EPURON's French subsidiary inaugurated the wind farm Bonneuil-les-Eaux. The wind farm began operating in November 2008. Since then, the five wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.4 MW, provide electricity to around 9,000 households and thus enable 9,520 tonnes of CO2 to be saved each year.
EPURON officially inaugurated the wind farm on the occasion of the European Wind Day. Those invited to the installation site for the inauguration included the residents of Bonneuil-les-Eaux and surrounding communities, as well as the mayor, the local council and other representatives from local politics. In total, over 200 visitors came to learn about how the wind farm operates.
“The realisation of the third French project shows that we have made very good progress with our international activities. In France, we have another foothold in an interesting wind energy market, in addition to the extremely promising pipelines in Australia and Turkey”, says Joachim Müller, Managing Director at EPURON GmbH.
The wind farm Bonneuil-les-Eaux is the third project which EPURON has brought onto the grid in France. The Derval and Lusanger wind farms already began producing clean electricity in September 2007. These wind farms are also situated in Pays de la Loire and, with a total capacity of 16 megawatts, supply around 9,400 households. By the end of the year 2010, EPURON France will realise wind farms with a total capacity of 42 megawatts. Along the lines of the strategic realignment in Germany, the colleagues in France are also developing greenfield projects, which means realising the site development from the very beginning.
“Business is developing very positively in France”, says the Managing Director of EPURON France, Jean-Baptiste Godmet. “We are particularly pleased that residents and local politicians are strongly supporting us in our projects. The inauguration ceremony at Bonneuil-les-Eaux was an opportunity for us to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the project.”
